Orly - Out Of This World (09/30/2010) - The Big Sister of The Orly CosmicFX Girls

Orly - Out of This World
I introduce to you my NOTD, Orly's Out Of This World, and a rant, of sorts.

In my opinion, this is Space Cadet's and Galaxy Girl's big sister but she gets little or no ♥!!!  We've definitely seen the likes of her before so we could say she's been around a lot longer...Now, I'm not saying that Space Cadet (click here) is not prettier or more interesting, because it is!

What I am saying is that OOTW deserves a NOTD or two (just so happens that alizarine claws and I both have this on today), you know what they say about great minds!

This has been popping up in local CVS's nationwide and though it is definitely in the higher price range for drugstore nail polish, it's definitely unusual enough to spend your CVS Extra Bucks on
Have a well-polished weekend (it is almost Friday, right?)!

SPOTTED @ Rite Aid: NEW Wet 'n Wild Collection + NOTD

This is the new limited edition display called the "wildshine - glitz n glam" collection from wet 'n wild (Fall/Winter).

Here's a sampling, from top to bottom we have: Midnight (index), Extravaganza (middle), Champagne (ring), Celebration (pinky)...

I consider all of these very nice, but of exceptional beauty are my three faves, Midnight (blueish purple with holo glitter), Extravaganza (crimson jelly red with gold and red glitter/flecks), and Champagne (on the same line as OPI Glitzerland).
I purchased: Extravaganza, Champagne, Midnight, Countdown, Celebration

NOTD: WnW Extravaganza (09/28/2010)
Pick yours up so you can be well-polished even on a budget!  Until next time, smooches :)

COMPS: Bruised Beauties - Orly Galaxy Girl Q&D's

Over the past week I've collected a few "Bruised Beauties", all of which, were inspired by Orly Galaxy Girl,  however, the first of the bunch was purchased months ago - Misa Embroidered Emerald. Recently, alizarine claws requested a comp so here goes it.  Below, I have "quick & dirty" comparison pics for your perusal:

Orly Galaxy Girl (index), Misa Embroidered Emerald (middle),           Zoya Ki (ring) , and Borghese Stellare Notte (pinky)

L-R: Zoya Ki, Borghese Stellare Notte,                                                 Misa Embroidered Emerald and Orly Galaxy Girl

My favorite has got to be the Orly Galaxy Girl, and coming in quick second is the Misa Embroidered Emerald, third would be Borghese Stellare Notte with Zoya Ki coming in fourth place - all are beautiful.  Though these are in the same color family they are different and if you're a lover of "bruised beauties" then you should own all of these.

I do not own the namesake of this post, you guessed it, Urban Decay Bruised, which is identical to Misa Embroidered Emerald per this comparison by j e l l y n a t.  So if you own Bruised you do not need Embroidered Emerald .  Here is another comp of Bruised and Galaxy girl by AllYouDesire (beautiful pics, yes?).

As you can see GG has the beautiful glass flecks, whereas, Bruise/Embroidered Emerald has a beautiful micro-shimmer - they are different. Oh, and as we know, if you own Orly Galaxy Girl you definitely don't need to plop down $13 buck-a-roos for MAC Formidable! as temptalia.com describes in this recent article.

Hopefully you enjoyed this post as much as I had making it!  Take care and have a well-polished tomorrow...

So Psyched about Essie "Sew Psyched"! (09/21/2010)

Handbag: Junior Drake -  Gaga
Today's NOTD was inspired by a handbag I picked up this weeked!  If you've never heard of Junior Drake handbags, you should definitely google it!  Anyway, went to their "Warehouse Sample Sale" and picked up this olive green beauty!

Essie - Sew Psyched
Well, I was excited to put on Essie Sew Psyched only to be "psyched out" because of the secret shimmer.  I use a professional nail lamp when I apply my polish and I was able to see it right away, but in normal light it's very difficult to see.  This shimmer makes the polish extra shiny on the nail and it's gorgeous!

Here's what they look like together:

Thanks for stopping by and please, by all means, have a well-polished day!

Nabi Dark Purple (09/16/2010)

I fell in love with this color in the bottle and it's still just as beautiful on the nail.  Nabi Dark Purple reminds me of OPI Merry Midnight in micro shimmer - so gorgeous!  This will be great for the Fall...

This has many different facets of shimmer: gold, magenta, purple, black with a purple base.  It dries down matte and needed at least 3 coats with 2 layers of top coat but it was well worth the drying time. :)

Stay well-polished and have a great weekend!

BLOG AWARD!

So much thanks to http://1xellus1.blogspot.com/ for the Sunshine Award!  This is my first award and I would like to "pay it forward" because I've been inspired by so many beautiful bloggers and will mention 12 of my favorites.  Please check them out!

So here goes it...  I would like to give props to the very first bloggers to follow me on my natural nail care journey:
The next blogs I'd like to nominate because of their ferocity in the nail care game and the ♥ and time commitment obvious by their wonderful pics and posts:
Anyway, this post is totally impromptu and I had loads of fun doing it!  Until we meet again, have a great and "well-polished" day :)

IN THE NEWS: Quality Mommy and Me Time?

The following article is thanks to my friend who knows I'm a lover of all things nail polish. Looks like potential for some real Mommy and Me time, however, the price tag below is a bit steep for the everyday consumer.

Everyone and "their mother" is jumping on the nail polish bandwagon these days!  Though this is a cute idea in theory, personally, I think that any old bottle of polish will do for some quality time with the little one.

"You knew you were in trouble when she ditched her crayons and coloring books for bright polishes. But you didn’t think the day would come so soon. Don’t fret. Hopscotch Kids‘ new non-toxic, water-based nail colors are safe for kids all ages.

But just because they’re free of all the bad stuff doesn’t mean they don’t work just as well as other brands. Her nails will pop with fun colors ($13 each) including “Bubble Gum, Bubble Gum in a Dish” and “Red Rover, Red Rover”. Our favorite: The lime-green “Heads Up, Seven Up”.

Even better? The bottles are spill-proof (bye, bye messy floors!) and the nail polish remover ($10) — which is made of a fruit and vegetable derived alcohol — is just as safe."

Zoya - Isla (09/08/2010)

I decided to let my husband pick my mani for our cousin's memorial service today by painting all 10 nails a different color - he chose Zoya Isla.

This was my first choice, as well, so I was relieved.  He was only 40 years old and died of a heart attack.  Life is so very fragile and because of that I try to remember to cherish every moment and use my time wisely.

Isla is very pretty but was difficult to photograph without it looking extremely frosty (I am not a lover of the frost).  So here's my attempt at capturing the beauty of this beauty.

This is one coat of my base coat (SH Hard as Wraps),  two coats of Isla and on coat of my current favorite base coat (SH Mega Shine).

Have a great and well-polished "hump-day"!

TRAVEL: I ♥ NY!

My recent trip to New York proved fruitful in the sense that I found my (short time) lemming - Sally Hansen's Mystic Lilac (ML)...

ML is very sheer so you will need an opaque base of some sort, I chose the nail color Confetti Moonstruck, which I also picked up in NY.

My husband thought I was insane because every drug store we walked by, (yes, we did lots and lots of walking) I just had to check to see, "what was new".  The first Duane Reade had the new display but it was missing ML - boooo!

The second one I checked, a few days later, had an underground cosmetics department and the new Xtreme Wears were untouched.  So I picked up ML, Fireberry Red, and Purple Gala, yes, I left the second ML standing there for some other person to discover.

The first chance I got I, layered ML over my current mani and it was so great, I had to go get the back-up and yes it was still there - untouched.

Here's a pic of Confetti Moonstruck on it's own.  It's so pretty I had a hard time layering ML over it but there will be other times for Moonstruck, I'm certain.

Needless to say, I ♥ NY...  Wishing a well-polished weekend to you all!
