Pink Wednesday: Cheri - Spring Mauve

I wore Spring Mauve for a week and just took it off!  What a lovely off-brand lacquer I've stumbled upon.

Color Description: Spring Mauve is a lovely lavender based hot pink with a secret shimmer to die for.  The secret shimmer is what pull lavender and makes this lacquer extra shiny.

Similar To: What came to mind first was Wet N Wild's How I Met Your Magenta but they're totally different in the bottle.  So, I don't have anything to compare Spring Mauve to, really.

This Look: One coat of Instant Artificials, two coats of Spring Mauve and one coat of Sally Hansen's Mega Shine.

Price Point: I believe this color is discontinued but the Cheri brand is sold online for $2.00/ea.  What a bargain!  I truly believe that with a great base and top coat any lacquer can be a lasting beauty...

I sincerely hope you liked this look as much as I did!  It's taking me longer and longer to change my polish lately because I'm in love with the spring colors.  Hope to have a few more looks for you this month and again enjoy you Spring to the fullest.

p.s.  I'm actually looking for an opaque lipstick in this color - any ideas let me know (lol)...

Pink Wednesday: L.A. Girl - Matte Pink

It's been a week since Spring's arrival and it's about time to start wearing your brights - wouldn't you say!  So I have for you today, L.A. Girl's Matte Pink...

Color Description: Matte Pink is a neon hot pink creme that definitely needs a topcoat over it to make it come alive.  These pictures aren't really showing the neon quality but believe me, it's there.

Similar To: Misa's Sandals, Flip Flops and Hip Hop is a bit brighter than Matte Pink and  it's not a matte but it's the closest thing in my collection.  Both are nice!

This Look: Two coats of Instant Artificials, two coats of Matte Pink and one coat of Sally Hansen Mega Shine.

Price Point/Availability: L.A. Girl Matte Raspberry retails for $4.00 and can be found online at http://www.lagirlusa.com/ or in your local beauty supply store.

Well, thank you all for being here and I sincerely hope your Spring is off to a great start!

Pink Wednesday: Sally Hansen - Iced Out

Glitter be gone!  I can only take glitter on my hands for so long and now for something a bit more soft and subdued.  Feast your eyes on Sally Hansen Iced Out.  Such a cold name for a rather demure look, wouldn't you say?  The name reminds me of an infamous "housewife" with much bling and this on their nails - lol. Ice, ice baby!

Color Description:  Iced Out is an extremely sheer lacquer that you will definitely need to wear "under-ware" with or use as a layering lacquer.  It is densely packed with gold, green and orange micro-glitter in a fairest pink base.

Similar To: Maybe Revlon Sheer Snowflake Pink or  possibly Nicole by OPI's Kim-pletely In Love (click here for Sneakerette's post) - these definitely have similarities but are by no means dupes.

This Look: One coat of Growing Nails Odorless Garlic base coat, one coat of Barielle Camouflage, three coats of Iced Out and one coat of Nutra Nail Ultra Shine Top Coat.

Price Point/Availability:  This was found in the same collection Frozen Creamsicle and has not yet made it to the core collection. It retails for $2.49.

Well, off to go do some much needed home organization - have a good one... :)

Pink Wednesday: Sally Hansen - Frozen Creamsicle

Okay, ya'll, if this isn't one of the prettiest Sally Hansen Hard As Nails lacquers I've ever seen I don't know what is.  Can you believe all of this shiny jelly goodness is from Hard As Nails?

Color Description: Frozen Creamsicle is not orange enough to be peach and not rosy enough to be pink it's best described as a pink-peach jelly that is delicate and simple yet classy and on-trend for the Spring.

Similar To:  Nothing else that I own is even close to this but from online pics it could be the jelly version of Barielle Blossom or possibly 2009's PYT by Deborah Lippman (see pic below), but I don't own either of these so I can't be sure. Also, here's a recent post from Mocha Mish Mash that has similar colors for your view pleasure.

This Look: Two coats of Nutra Nail Super Base Coat, two coats of Frozen Creamsicle and one coat of Shine & Hold.

Price Point/Availability: I happened upon Frozen Creamsicle at Walgreens in the "new items" section for $1.99.  I've searched the web and can't seem to find another mention of this lacquer and haven't seen it anywhere else, so Walgreens is your best bet.  I'm assuming this is new for Spring 2012.

I really hope this look helps brighten your day as much as it has mine. Color really changes my mood and I have a feeling that the next few days will be full of good things for both me and you - have a great Wednesday, my lovelies!

Oh and next I think I will try to recreate Let Them Have Polish's MaxFactor Fantasy Fire over Revlon Royal...  I don't have Fantasy Fire so I will have to get creative but I have a few thoughts in mind. I'm really excited about look.  I liked it so much I Pinterested It!

Pink Wednesday: Golden Rose #105 (Pink Holographic)

It's close to midnight in Los Angeles on this Pink Wednesday which comes and goes before you know it, but I figured out a way to give myself a few more hours. I'm using the last available time zone in the U.S. because it's still Wednesday in Hawaii - lol!  On to Golden Rose #105 is long overdue for review, so it goes it.

Color Description: A lovely conservative neutral pink indoors and wildly holographic outdoors, Pink #105, is understated but at the same time not to be missed.  Very hard to capture in pics, this lacquer is best viewed outside.

This Look: Two coats of Miss Marion Garlic Base coat, two coats of #105, and one coat of OPI DS topcoat.

Price Point/Availability: I received this little bottle in a swap.  It was a curiosity that's now been satisfied, however, I now want to try other colors.  These are available online for under $3.00.  What a deal!

These indoor pics aren't showing the holo effect but it's an accurate rendition of what you'll see, for the most part. Alrighty then my fine folks!  I will speak with you soon, 'kay?

Pink Wednesday: Sally Hansen Color Quick Pen - Red Chrome

What one minute!  This is Pink Wednesday not Red Wednesday, right?  Yes, it is Pink Wednesday and this post is for Red Chrome but did you take a look at the pic? As pink as pink can get...

Color Description: Sally Hansen should have called this Hot Pink Chrome because it's sure not red but it is lovely.  A metallic deep pink, Red Chrome, is definitely a nice color for any occasion.

Similar To: Nothing in my collection, how about yours?

This Look: One coat of Instant Artificials, two coats of Red Chrome and one coat of Shine & Hold.

Price Point/Availability: I'm still seeing this at my local CVS, however, I picked up mine at my dollar store for, you guessed it, $1.00.  So this make me think this will be discontinued sooner than later.

Hope you like this look.  By the way, do you have any of Sally Hansen's pen applicators?  I have a few and this is the second time I've tried it out.  Not bad but the brush definitely is rough and tough and will leave streaks so you have to be very careful when applying.  Take care!

Pink Wednesday: Miss Marion - Neapolitan

Can you say yummy?  Who doesn't like Neapolitan ice cream?  Strawberry, Vanilla and with a hint of Chocolate, this Miss Marion lacquer is very appropriately named.  I must say I was a bit puzzled at the name until I sat down and took a real close look at the bottle, then it all came together like two scoops and a spoon - lol!!!

Color Description:  A creamy, dusty pink with brown undertones, Neapolitan is definitely a neutral to be reckoned with.  It applies sheer and shiny like the best jellies, which was a pleasant surprise. So I guess I would sum this one up as a dusty pink with a jelly finish.

Similar To:  I found this to be close in hue (not finish) to Sally Hansen's Infinite Natural, which I previously compared to OPI's Dulce De Leche but again Neapolitan is definitely a jelly which makes it unique.

This Look: One coat of Starting Over After Artificials, the coats of Neapolitan and one coat of Shine & Hold.

Price Point/Availability:  Miss Marion can be purchase directly from Miss Marion via JBK Trading for 3 for $8.95.

Boy does this bottle (and picture) bring back memories.  In the late eighties and even into the early nineties all the ladies (including myself) would request Miss Marion's Garnet to be placed on our medium to long acrylic talons.  Well, Miss Marion's is still in business and I found them to purchase a multitude of colors a few years ago and am happy that I did.

Have you ever worn Miss Marion's lacquer?  If not, you can still find out about their history here.

Pink Wednesday: Ashley Stewart French Kiss w/ Sally Hansen Sheer Strawberry

Today I have for you French Kiss from Ashley Stewart a plus-size clothing store with an eclectic mix of styles to choose from including chunky accessories and now lacquer for your nails.

Just about every retail outlet is now selling nail polish and Ashley Stewart is no different - who can blame them?  Nail polish is HOT and you can do it yourself.

Color Description:  French Kiss is an opaque pale peachy-pink creme that was extremely difficult to apply (very streaky) and even more difficult to photograph. I layered Sally Hansen's Sheer Strawberry over it to even out the streaks a bit which made it jelly-like.

Similar To:  Maybelline Pink Sorbet is almost the exact same pink (will be gifting French Kiss soon).  I pulled China Glaze Something Sweet and it was much darker and pinker in tone.

This Look: Two coats of French Kiss, two coats of Sheer Strawberry and one coat of Shine & Hold.

Price Point/Availability:  This was recently purchased and is currently on sale for $1.99 (in-store only).

I wore this mani this weekend and it's a bit worn but I still feel "pretty in pink" - Happy Hump Day!

Pink Wednesday: China Glaze Sprinkles

Today's Pink Wednesday offering is China Glaze Sprinkles, which is a pretty pink that's right up my alley and to top it all off it has lot of magenta micro glitter thus the name Sprinkles!

This lacquer has been discontinued but you can find it online, no problem!

Have an awesome week and see you around soon!

Pink Wednesday: OPI - Come To Poppy

Come To Poppy is from OPI's Spring 2011 Nice Stems Collection.  The only thing I can say is that this is not what I imagine the color Poppy to be; to me Poppy is a bright orange-red.  It's still nice though.

Color Description: A pearlized shimmering hot pink frost with lavender duo-chrome, Come To Poppy is bright and cheery.

Similar To: Unique finish but similar in color to many hot pinks on the market.

This Look: One coat of Growing Nails Garlic base coat, with one coat of Instant Artificials, two coats of Come To Poppy with one coat of Sally Hansen Mega Shine.

Price Point/Availability: OPI retails for $8.50/ea, however, this may not be readily available as it was limited edition.  I'm sure you can get this online and it may still be at select salon locations.

Pink Wednesday: OPI - Teenage Dream over Sally Hansen Pink Diamond

One good thing about living on the West Coast is that I have a few more hours to get my Pink Wednesday look published...  Yay for L.A.!

Here's Teenage Dream over Pink Diamond and at first, it was just going to be Pink Diamond but I decided to prettify (lol - prettify looks like it's a real word) it with Teenage Dream and it worked out nicely,

No real details will be given about this look today but if you have any questions, please, please, please, ask me.  Now on to the definition of prettify...

pret·ti·fy

tr.v. pret·ti·fiedpret·ti·fy·ingpret·ti·fies
To make pretty or prettier, especially in a superficial or insubstantial way.

Pink Wednesday: OPI - La Paz-itively Hot - Matte

La Paz-itively Hot in the Matte formula is striking and deep enough in color to be worn in the Fall - IMO.

Color Description: Wow!  Thought for sure I would want to put a topcoat on this baby to give it a shine, but this magenta/hot pink lacquer is great on its own.  The fact that its matte gives it an edge and will definitely get some double takes.

Similar To: Nada!

This Look: One coat of Growing Nails Odorless Garlic base and tow coats of La Paz-itively Hot - Matte.

Price Point/Availability:  I believe this is still available at most better salon locations and retails for $8.50.

Thanks as always for stopping by and take care!

Pink Wednesday: Nabi - Cinnamon

I have been obsessed with the color rose gold lately and you can see why, right - isn't it just delicious?

Color Description: Nabi Cinnamon is a copper metallic lacquer that goes very well with my rose gold jewelry below.  Definitely in the same family as rose gold.

Did You Know? Copper is the key metal in creating the rose gold color? A common alloy for rose gold is 75% gold and 25% copper by mass.

Similar To: Another rose gold/copper lacquer is Orly Rage.  However, Rage is a foil and not a metallic like Cinnamon but beautiful, nonetheless.

This Look: Two coats of Cinnamon and one coat of Sally Hansen NailShine Miracle.

Price Point/Availability: Nabi is found a local beauty supplies as well as online can cost as little as $1.00.

I so appreciate you stopping by! Do you own any rose gold jewelry? Whether it's fashion or fine, rose gold is a fun departure from the norm - yellow and white gold, wouldn't you say?

Pink Wednesday: OPI - My Address Is "Hollywood"

Well, today's officially the 1st day of Fall and OPI's My Address Is "Hollywood" is my Pink Wednesday mani. This is the perfect color to transition into the Fall with, it being from the Touring America Fall collection, and all.

One thing is for sure, if you're "Touring America" you are definitely going to want to drive down "Hollywood Boulevard" with all the pink neon signs, then stop by Pink's for a hot dog, you may just see Angelyne drive by in her pink Corvette.  And a bit of trivia for you: Marilyn Monroe, the biggest Hollywood starlet of all time said that Diamond's are a girls best friend and she was wearing pink when she was singing the song - things that make you go hmmm?

Color Description:  My Address is "Hollywood" is as pink as pink can get and is a great look to brighten a gloomy Fall day.  It's hot pink with subtle gold shimmer throughout which I had difficulty capturing on film.

Similar To:  Many pinks in my collection come close but is closest to Essie Your Hut or Mine; see comparison pic here from The PolishAholic.  In the bottles they don't really look exact but once you get it on the nail you can really see the similarities.

This Look:  One coat of OPI Acrylic Nail Base Coat (my other base wasn't handy), two coats of My Address Is "Hollywood" and one coat of Sally Hansen Mega Shine.

Price Point/Availability:  This collection is still readily available online and in select salon locations.  I picked mine up this weekend at my local JC Penney Salon with my $10 off of a $10 purchase coupon and the OPI selection was BOGO 50% so I ended up getting two OPI's for $3 (after tax).  Crazy good!  I also picked up Road House Blues. :)

p.s. JC Penney is clearancing out polishes from the Swiss Collection (Just A Little Rosti At This) and Jade Is The New Black was on clearance, as well.  Happy hunting at JC Penney!

OPI - Pros & Bronze (09/03/2011)

Here's a quick look at this weekend's mani of choice: OPI Pros & Bronze from the Serena Williams Glam Slam! U.S Collection.

On August 25, 2011 Serena Williams officially launched the final series of nail lacquers in her Glam Slam! by OPI collection which features two high-shine shades: a shimmering red named Love is a Racket and a glittering bronze titled Pros & Bronze.  I decided to purchase Pros & Bronze alone.

Color Description: Bronze isn't really accurate and didn't know exactly how to describe this color until I came across Obsessive Cosmetic Hoarders Unite's blog who describes it as a "rose gold" which is so perfect for this lacquer.

This Look: Pros & Bronze is very sheer and takes at least three coats for any kind of coverage so definitely find a similar color to layer it over.  In this case, I layered it over OPI I'd Like To Thank from the 2007 Holiday in Hollywood collection.  Turned out to be a nice pairing.

Thanks for stopping by!

Pink Wednesday: PRO10 - Shout (08/31/2011)

PRO10 Shout is a great Summer pink that I found at the Dollar Tree in a 2-pack that included a light blue called Moody which looks just like China Glaze's Moody Blue.  Score!

Color Description: A beautiful hot pink that shows off any tan.

Similar To: I have nothing exact but the hue (not finish) reminded me of Finger Paints I'm A Survivor.  Also, close to Revlon Bubble.

This Look: One coat of Starting Over After Artificials, two coats of Shout and one coat of Sally Hansen Mega Shine.

Price Point/Availability:  As mentioned above, you may be able to find this at your local Dollar Tree but other than that it is definitely discontinued.

Have a great Wednesday!

Pink Wednesday: OPI - Blushingham Palace

OPI Blushingham Palace is this week's choice for Pink Wednesday.  Originally from the 2003 British Collection, Blushingham Palace is fit to be worn to the Royal Wedding. :)

Color Description: Described by OPI as a cool light mauve, Blushingham Palace is a medium pink frost with mauve undertones.  Not too frosty, though, it's a nice balance of frost and shimmer.

OTT Lighting and Light Box

Similar To: Nothing I know of or own.  One of a kind...

Incandescent Lighting

This Look: Three coats of Blushingham Palace (no top or base coat)

Halogen Lighting

Price Point/Availability: Blushingham Palace is discontinued but can still be found at some brick & mortar stores and 99.9% of the time it will be clearanced out.  This can also be found online, if interested.

Thanks so much for stopping by...

Pink Wednesday: Clarins 103 - Pink Shimmer

Okay, this is "pink" in namesake only - LOL!!! Let me introduce you to the demure lacquer named Clarins Pink Shimmer. I've always wanted to do a "naked nail" post so this does that (somewhat) and it has pink in the title...

Color Description:  Pink Shimmer is a  sheer milky nude creme with a very subtle pink shimmer that can only be seen in person.

Similar To:  This lacquer is nice but not very unique and can be compared in quality and color to many soft shades by OPI or Essie.

This Look: Two coats of Pink Shimmer (no base or topcoat).

Price Point/Availability:  I received the mini in my most recent swap but I'm seeing the regular size on Ebay for close to $20 (including shipping).

Well, I don't know about you but I'm getting a bit feverish for the Fall! Can't wait to start swatching a few new Touring America lacquers. Picked up Honk If You Love OPI and Get In The Expresso Lane yesterday and also scored the new Kleancolor Chunky Black Holo (see beautiful bottle pic here by The Swatchaholic), eye candy in the bottle alone.

Have a great day ladies and see you soon!

Pink Wednesday: OPI - Crim-Sun

OTT Light w/ Light Box
Old-school holographic nail polish at it's best, OPI Crim-Sun is one of a kind.  This is from the 2003 Summer for Shore collection, of which I have two, Crim-Sun and Blue Moon Lagoon.

Color Description: I would say this is a hot-pink coral with a subtle holographic sheen with a bit of frost thrown in there for good measure.  Very unique to my other OPI DS lacquers.

Incandescent Lighting
Similar To: From various reviews, Crim-Sun is said to be dupish to the old Sally Hansen Nail Prisms in Coral Amber, which came out around the same time in '03.

This Look:  Decided to go 100% OPI on this mani and try out a new basecoat - OPI Acrylic Nail Base Coat.  Despite the name I'm using on my natural nails because it boast of having a "stain-resistant formula".  We'll see.  Then I have two coats of Crim-Sun and on coat of th OPI Designer Series topcoat.

Indoor Lighting w/ Low Flash
Price Point/Availability: This collection has been discontinued for over 9 years, however, it can still be found online.

Well, another Pink Friday mani down, what to wear next?  Maybe a something from the new Miss Universe Collection? ...or, one of the Serena Williams looks? We shall see... As always, thanks for stopping by and what's your next mani gonna be?

Pink Wednesday: OPI Pistol Packin' Pink

Window Lighting
Happy Wednesday, my wonderful readers!  Today I decided to wear Pistol Packin' Pink from 1999's Wild West Collection.  Still wanting to keep my nails interview-ready, I thought this would do the trick and maybe even "pistol-whip" someone into hiring me, with my winsome words and well-polished mani, of coarse (lol).

Color Description: Described by OPI as a light pink pearl lustre, Pistol Packin' Pink is an understated frost with lots of appeal.  So dainty and soft, a bride can easily wear this for her wedding mani.  In certain lighting a pale blue duo-chrome appears making this lacquer extra yummy - totally reminds me of cotton candy.

Incandescent Lighting
Similar To: In my collection, L'Oreal's Sweet Chiffon came up real close in bottle comparisons but not sure what else to compare this to.  I don't know many of us who collect light pink frosts, so let me know if you have something close.  Would love to see some pics!

This Look:  I decided to file my nails down a bit and then add one coat of Starting Over After Artificals, one coat of Barielle Camouflage, two coats of Pistol Packin' Pink and one coat of Sally Hansen Mega Shine.

OTT Light
Price Point/Availability: This lacquer is discontinued, however, I believe drugstores may still carry L'Oreal Sweet Chiffon.

I did say, a little over a week ago, that I would let you know how the job interview went, right?  Well, as you can see, I'm still looking but the interview itself went well.  Only time will tell where I will land but I'm excited to see what the future holds.  Something good is lurking just around the corner, I can just feel it. :)
