NDB is one of those little known Los Angeles based brands that not too many are aware of but boy oh boy do their glitters pack a punch. Under The Sea hails from their Tropical collection of glitters which boasts such names as Golden Bikini, Sea Swept and Message in A Bottle.
Color Description: Under The Sea is a medium blue (leaning turquoise) base which contains fine silver and deep turquoise glitter.
Similar To: Under The Sea is much lighter that OPI Absolutely Alice or even China Glaze Dorothy Who? but does not fail to deliver when it comes to the glitter factor.
This Look: One coat of Miss Marion's Garlic Superbase with two coats of Under The Sea and one coat of Shine & Hold.
Price Point/Availability: This lacquer retails for $2.00/bottle and can be purchased online.

Kleancolor 230 - Chunky Holo Fuchsia over Revlon Royal (2/18/2012)
So, I don't have Clarins 230 but I have Kleancolor 230 (Chunky Holo Fuchsia) and here it is over Revon Royal. It's interesting, isn't it? I wasn't well this weekend so I didn't leave the house with this look and was kinda sad that I didn't get to see it in the sun but it was a nice look to lounge around in - lol.
Color Description: So pretty I have to say it twice "230 is gorgeous iridescent glitter that sparkles gold, orange and green all suspended in a fuchsia jelly transforming any base color from wow to ooh wee!"
Similar To: This is really a unique lacquer that said to be mimicking the rare find known to be Clarins 230. The glitter is much larger in the Kleancolor, however.
This Look: One coat of Miss Marion Garlic Superbase, two coats of Revlon Royal and two coats of 230 (Chunky Holo Fuchsia).
Price Point/Availability: Kleancolors are available online $3.49 (+ tax) with a whopping $8.00 for shipping. So if you can find these in a local beauty supply, that's your best bet; I've seen them for as low as $1.00.
Thanks for checking me out... :)

Pink Wednesday: OPI - Teenage Dream over Sally Hansen Pink Diamond
One good thing about living on the West Coast is that I have a few more hours to get my Pink Wednesday look published... Yay for L.A.!
Here's Teenage Dream over Pink Diamond and at first, it was just going to be Pink Diamond but I decided to prettify (lol - prettify looks like it's a real word) it with Teenage Dream and it worked out nicely,
No real details will be given about this look today but if you have any questions, please, please, please, ask me. Now on to the definition of prettify...

From the Vault: Color Club - Precious Gifts
I found this gorgeous lovely called Precious Gifts by chance a few months ago and fell in love! You don't find many pics or much talk about this one other than it being on a few wish lists, but I am so pleased that I found this.
Color Description: Precious Gifts is a deep fuchsia jelly with small red glitter and fine blue glitter and is something to behold in real life.
Similar To: Absolutely nothing! Definitely a layering project...
This Look: Two Coats of Color Clubs Precious Gifts, and one coat of Maybelline Infinite Shine.
Price Point/Availability: This lacquer so old the name is written in gold so I'm certain it has been discontinued.
Thanks for stopping by!

Kleancolor - Chunky Holo Black (Bottle Pic)
Sunday, July 24, 2011
Omega Labs - Silvery Green (07/24/2011)
Umph, umph, umph! This glitter is insane in the membrane and shines its brightest over black or maybe even a deep green. This is the green glitter that the Burlesque Collection was missing. Hmm, what would OPI call this one with titles like Bring On The Bling and Simmer & Shimmer? Maybe, Green Light A Go-Go? LOL!Color Description: This is an outrageous holographic and medium green glitter suspended in a clear base and definitely competes, toe to toe with every OPI glitter that's been on the market.
Similar To: Nothing that I own or that I've seen...
This Look: One coat of Silvery Green over OPI Black Onyx (previous post) then topped with one coat of Sally Hansen NailShine Miracle and Mega Shine.Price Point/Availability: I found this at a Mom & Pop beauty supply store for $1. Can't wait to go back out of town to that secret dusty spot to pick up a few more of these.
Thanks so much for your comments! Can't believe I have over 300 readers and without a single "giveaway"... So, next time I go to that secret dusty spot, I'll try to remember to pick up a few extras of these. They have many other holo glitters, too. Maybe, once I get to 500 I'll do an Omega Labs give-away of some sort - that might be fun!

Fun-Friday Mani: China Glaze - Skyscraper (07/22/2011)
![]() |
Color Description: Very aptly described as a sparkling, glitter blue reminiscent of sky over the city, Skyscraper is definitely a lacquer that I can have some fun with. A true navy blue, this dark denim jelly, with suspended silver glitter is bar none. Smooth to the touch (not bumpy like most glitters this size), Skyscraper is a must-have for every polish enthusiast.
Similar To: Skyscraper is almost the exact same color/hue of OPI Russian Navy Suede (less the chunky glitter). I would also say it's similar to Essie Starry Starry Night on steroids. I've read somewhere that it would be a great for frankening SSN because it's so "chock full 'o glitter". Imagine standing on top of the Empire State Building in a black-out, that's Skyscraper.
This Look: One coat of Starting Over After Artificials, two coats of Skyscraper, one coat of Sally Hansen NailShine Miracle (great for chunky glitters, though there was no smoothing necessary) and one coat of Sally Hansen MegaShine (fast drying). On the last pic I decided to run a little OPI Russian Navy Suede over the tips due to a bit of shrinkage. Can you tell the difference? Nice!

Have a great weekend and for those of you who don't have this one already, hope you get a chance to see this beauty in person! The pics just don't do it justice.

China Glaze - OMG (07/15/2011)
No special occasion to celebrate tonight but this lacquer is truly putting me in a celebratory mood! Listening to some good music (old-school, James Bradley), just finished a fantastic mani and winding it down for the evening. OMG is "Oh My Goodness" all bottled up and then some...Color Description: Holo-rific goodness and awesome sauce in a bottle, China Glaze OMG is considered a linear holographic lacquer (defined by the oil slick appearance). Shining silver with a microcosm of rainbow particles, OMG, is one of the most special nail lacquers I own. To bling out my mani a little more I add Maybelline's Planet Pluto on my ring fingers, making for a spectacular combo.
Similar To: I don't have another silver linear holographic but from online pics this reminds me of Nfu Oh 61, Chanel Holographic, and a few others. Here's a comparison post from More Nail Polish that might help a bit. As you will see, even though OMG reminds me of others, there's really no dupe out there because they're all slightly different. I'm just glad to have this on right now, that's all.
This Look: One coat of Starting Over After Artificials and two coats of OMG (I left the topcoat off for the pictures). Then added two coats of Maybelline Planet Pluto to ring fingers.Price Point/Availability: This lacquer is now discontinued but others from this collection can go for as high as $25/ea. on Ebay. Wowzers!
I think this was the most difficult review to type up because I keep stretching out my hands and looking at my nails. Until today, this was an untried and I'm so happy that I'm experiencing what all of the hype is about this lacquer - WORTH EVERY PENNY! Do you own this or anything similar? Would ♥ to hear from some of my polished peeps!

Kleancolor 231 - Chunky Holo Scarlet over OPI - A Man In Every Port-ugal (07/14/2011)
![]() |
| Window Lighting |
Color Description: The perfect layering glitter, Scarlet, has a multi-chromatic golden-orange glitter suspended in bright red sheer jelly syrup-like lacquer and could easily be worn alone. I already had on OPI's AMIEP and wanted to freshen it up so I picked up Scarlet and went to town. And yes, after you paint your nails with Scarlet, you will want to go on a night on the town, literally!

Price Point/Availability: If you can find these in a local beauty supply, that's your best bet; I've seen them for as low as $1.00. They are also available at Kleancolors website for $3.49 (+ tax and $8 an shipping charge). Gas is so expensive you might just want to purchase online than hunting for them at you local beauty supplies. Your choice but worth it either way! :)

Pink Wednesday: Misa - Sandals, Flip Flops and Hip Hop w/ Kleancolor Chunky Holo Candy
Hi All! Today (Wednesday) I'm wearing a funky fluorescent pink for Pink Wednesays - starring Misa's Sandals, Flip Flops and Hip Hop co-starring Kleancolor's Chunky Holo Candy and I must say they work well together.
Color Description: Sandals, Flip Flops and Hip Hop is from the appropriately named Look on the Bright Side collection and is a bright neon pink creme. This is very pretty but not that extravagant so I thought I'd add some bling with the new Kleancolor Chunky Holo Candy which is a glowy pink/orange glitter suspended in a pink/coral jelly base.
Similar To: Again, this color is not super-unique, other than the name and that it's a Misa - yay! ♥ Misas... :)
This Look: One coat of Starting Over After Artificials, two coats of Misa Sandals, Flip Flops and Hip Hop (very thick and goopy, which makes it slow-drying), one coat of Kleancolor Chunky Holo Candy and one coat of Z Top Coat.
Price Point/Availability: You can still find this Misa's website retailing for $7.50.
I don't know about you ladies but I was intrigued with the name of this Misa and for that reason alone I swapped for it sight-unseen. Have a great rest of the week and hope to actually post on Pink Wednesday next week...

Kleancolor 230 - Chunky Holo Fuchsia over Essie - Your Hut or Mine (6/3/2011)
I've been extremely excited about the new Kleancolors of late and the Chunky Holos were at the top of my lemmings list! So far, I've only found three of them in person, Fuchsia, Purple and Candy. Here's a look at Fuchsia, though, I had the most difficult time capturing it on "film" - you get so much more in person than what the pics are showing.
Color Description: 230 is gorgeous iridescent glitter that sparkles gold, orange and green all suspended in a fuchsia jelly transforming any base color from wow to ooh wee! I layered this over my previous mani, Essie YHoM.
Similar To: The effect of Kleancolor 230 puts me in the mind of the highly sought after Sally Hansen Hidden Treasure or Nubar 2010 and is just as exciting as the Nfu-Oh flakies with its fuchsia base. This is what makes 230 a stand out - the jelly base is phenomenal and "word on the street" has it that Kleancolor is paying homage to the elusive Clarins 230 (see Scrangie pic). Will do a post on this comparison at a later date.
This Look: Two coats of 230 over YHoM, with one coat of Shine & Hold.

Fun-Friday Mani: LaRosa Crackle - Hot Purple over Essie - Status Symbol w/ OPI Silver Shatter (5/27/2011)
This weekend I will be going to the Purple One's concert so I did a funky fresh mani for the occasion and I am lovin' me some Hot Purple crackle right about now! For an added Purple Reign effect, I added a faint layer of glitter over top; for this I used L.A. Colors Glistening Purple and then a little Silver Shatter on my tips to "ice it up" a bit - lol.
L.A. Colors Glistening Purple is a very sparse magenta glitter in a clear base that will not detract from your mani, it will only enhance it; a very nice layering glitter. As you see, the Silver Shatter didn't shatter much, but I still like the look.
Similar To: Hot Purple isn't similar to anything that I know of - a purple crackle with hidden shimmer? This crackle is TDF (to die for) and although the Glistening Purple glitter was a disappointment when I first swatched it alone, over a crackle is definitely the way to go with this sparse glitter, and again, I own nothing else like this. Silver Shatter is also in a stand-alone category for the gorgeous shimmer effect it gives.
Crackle Application: LaRosa crackle works best on completely dry lacquer, I mean completely dry, like an hour or so (or a day or so when creating a new look), unlike Kleancolor which works best over freshly painted nails and I'm still on the fence about OPI's crackle lacquers, they're a bit thick and inconsistent, in my book. Of all of the crackles on the market I ♥ LaRosa the best.
Well, this should be a fun weekend! I've never been to a Prince concert for various reasons, but today is a new day; not only has he cleaned up his act, per say, he's lowered his ticket prices to a mere $25 a seat. If just only for curiousity's sake, I'm going and I can't wait to see what he has in store for the last weekend of his 21 Night Stand concert.
Color Description: As mentioned in my previous review, Status Symbol, is a flamingo pink, however LaRosa Hot Purple is a shimmering dark purple that is muy, muy caliente, my friends and the crackle effect is awesome with a capital 'A'.

Price Point/Availability: LaRosa Hot Purple crackle is retailing online for about $4.00 a bottle and I picked mine up from a beauty supply store while on vacation last week. L.A. Colors Glistening Purple was found at the Dollar Tree and was, of course $1.00 and I purchased OPI Silver Shatter in the JC Penney Salon a few weeks ago for regular retail. All are fairly new to the market and should be readily available online.

So far he's had guests ranging from Whitney Houston to Chaka Khan and Mint Condition to Nicole Scherzinger. I've also heard that Janelle Monae performed one night and then on another night grammy-award winning Esperanz Spalding was in full effect and you can be sure that Sheila E. will be on the drums. So, yeah, I'm a little geeked right now... Hope you enjoyed this look and TTYS!

L.A. Colors - Aqua Crystals (05/22/2011)
Run! (don't walk) to your nearest Dollar Tree for this blue glittered beauty. I picked this up while on a mini-vacay with my sister last week in San Diego and I'm so glad I gave it a chance. Of the four glitters I picked up (including: Glistening Purple, Jewel Tone and Sparkling Diamonds) Aqua Crystals is my absolute favorite. :)Color Description: Aqua Crystals is medium blue jelly with glistening glitter. If you can imagine the blue equivalent of Orly's new Bubbly Bombshell, then you got it! And you can get away with one coat of this baby.
This Look: One coat of Starting Over After Artificials, two coats of Aqua Crystals (went on pretty thick) and one coat of Z Super Fast Dry top coat.
Similar To: I pulled a few bottles from my stash to compare this with and overall I really like Aqua Crystals (index) the best. It's the most rich and regal of the bunch, which are, Milani Blue Flash (middle), China Glaze Dorothy Who? (ring) and Claire's Twinkle Twinkle (pinky). All are two coats and as you can see, Blue flash (middle) is the closest match with Dorothy Who? being too sheer, and Twinkle Twinkle (pinky), though nice, was too dark.
Price Point/Availability: I found L.A. Colors Aqua Crystals at the Dollar Tree for $1.00. It's also available online at various e-tailers.
Thanks for stopping by and let me know your thoughts... I hope you like this color as much as I do! For one dollar this is a great purchase and if you have any questions please let me know. I will do my best to point you in the right directions.

Essie - Ruby Slippers (5/8/2011)
There's no place like home... Essie Ruby Slippers is what I call a "special occasion" nail polish, however, it is very wearable; you wanna be anywhere but home with when you wear this. My hubby picked this out for our anniversary and though I couldn't wear it to dinner, I put it on the first chance I got and wore it on Sunday. I've been wearing this for three days and so far so good.Color Description: Ruby Slippers is a deep red jelly with medium (almost chunky) multi-colored glitter from shades of red to orangey-gold. Depending on how many coats you apply, the glitter appears to be suspended in strawberry syrup. If you've ever made your own strawberry shortcake from scratch, with fresh strawberries, you know exactly what I'm talking about.
Similar To: It's different than any other red glitter I own because of the size and color of the glitter. But, believe it or not, this is not my favorite red-jelly glitter of the bunch... I actually preferred Wet n Wild's Extravaganza, so much so, that I bought an extra and have it in my back-up box!
This Look: One coat of Starting Over After Artificials, three coats of Ruby Slippers, one coat of Sally Hansen NailShine Miracle and one coat of Sally Hansen Mega Shine.Price Point/Availability: I received this in a swap from the lovely rmcandlelight of Nails Beautiqued, however, Essie has long since discontinued Ruby Slippers. After doing a quick google search, I see that it is still being sold online at a few e-tailers.
Well, it's time for a change! I really want to join in the Pink Wednesday craze, so I'm off to remove this and see which pink I want to wear... Talk to you soon. :)

Orly - Bubbly Bombshell (5/5/2011)
![]() |
I had to have two from the collection and it's no surprise that they were both shiny and sparkly - Bubbly Bombshell, and Here Comes Trouble.
Color Description: Bubbly Bombshell is described by Orly as a "purple glitter" but it's so much more than that! It's more like a hot pink/magenta glitter with flashes of purple. So, so pretty this really could have been in the OPI Burlesque glitter collection...

Similar To: After swatching a few lacquers that I thought looked similar in the bottle I was pleasantly surprised that I don't have a dupe of this in my collection. I swatched Milani Purple Gleam and Zoya Roxy and boy oh boy was my eye off. Nothing similar about these, at all, except glitter!
This Look: One coat of Starting Over After Artificials for my base, three coats of Bubbly Bombshell, one coat of Sally Hansen's NailShine Miracle and one coat of Shine and Hold on top. This is a fairly gritty glitter so you will need a few thick layers of topcoat for best results.
Price Point/Availability: This collection is retailing for $7.50 and should be in stores right now wherever Orly is found.Well, this should really brighten my work day today! Accounting can be a tad bit boring, thus the nail hobby and with polishes like this, who can really be bored.
Take care and if you have any questions or comments, by all means, let me hear from you.
Left: 17 year wedding anniversary (5-7-2011) w/ Bubbly Bombshell. :)

Fun-Friday Mani: OPI/China Glaze - Teenage Dream Layered with Black Mesh
I know, I know! You may have seen this combo a hundred times, but I finally broke down and purchased a crackle nail lacquer. Crackles are not necessarily my cup of tea but I wanted to try out China Glaze Black Mesh, so here's my review. Oh, and my friend highly recommended OPI's Teenage Dream from the Katy Perry Collection, so I'm giving that a whirl, as well.
Color Description:
Black Mesh goes on nice and thin, dries to a deep matte black and crackles thin and fast. OPI's Teenage Dream is very sparkly and girly with various types of glitter including larger round holographic sparkles. I actually used Black Mesh to calm down Teenage Dream.
Similar To:
OPI's Black Shatter is very close to Black Mesh from China Glaze's CRACKLEglaze Collection , however, the OPI version has a thicker consistency and may dry a bit slower. Teenage Dream has been compared as a pinker/prettier version to Sally Hansen's Strobe Light by Addicted To All Things Pretty. I've now tried both and totally agree!
This Look:
I based two coats Teenage Dream with Chameleon's Calypso and then added one thin coat of Black Mesh. Topped that off with my Shine & Hold Top Coat.
Price Point/Availability:
Chameleons Calypso is readily available at drugstores nationwide (i.e. Rite Aid); Black Mesh and Teenage Dream, not so much. These two are both Limited Edition I picked mine up with in the last week at JC Penney (Teenage Dream) and Sally Beauty Supply (Black Mesh). Right now JC Penney is having a BOGO50% for their OPI in the Salon section of the store and Sally's has their China Glaze priced at $4.99.
Have you gotten into the crackled effect? It took me a long time but like I said I fell for it and though it's not LOVE, it's not HATE either - IT'S JUST PLAIN FUN... Would love to hear you well-polished thought down below!

Milani - Silver Dazzle (01/29/2011)
Color Description: Milani's Silver Dazzle (SD) One Coat Glitter lacquer is a blackened charcoal glitter that really comes alive with the right topcoat! However, without a topcoat it's the closest thing to asphalt that I've ever worn on my nails - from the look to the texture, it's very dark and intriguing. I wore SD to a gala last night with a long black dress and this jacket, it was a perfect match.Similar To: You tell me? No serious, I'd love to hear what else this is close to because I pulled out my OPI Lucerne-tainly Look Marvelous and Brand New Skates - similar in color but look and texture, definitely not dupes. SD contains brilliant chunky glitter, while the others are more fine and subdued.
This Look: Okay so you can wear this color multiple ways. 1) one coat lacquer, no topcoat - for that asphalt look and feel, or 2) one coat lacquer, one coat topcoat - for a semi-flat, still textured look, or lastly, like I'm wearing in the pic, 3) two coats lacquer, two coats topcoat - for an out of this world blackened charcoal glitter-fest on the nail. I was in a rush last night so I wore option #2.
Topcoat Recommendation: Tonight I had a bit more time so I put on one more coat of SD and a new top coat I'm trying out called Sally Hansen NailShine Miracle (click to read box description) and though it is not a quick dry, it is great for this type of finish, a gritty glitter that absorbs the shine from a top coat - your nails will still look nice but not spectacular. Well, I topped it off with a quick dry and wahlah the shiniest, most spectacular glitter mani I've laid my eyes on!
Price Point/Availability: Milani SD is said to be installed in the core line eventually, however, when I picked it up it retailed for $5.00 and was on a promotional display. I still see some CVS's with this display so you should be able to find it. The NailShine Miracle is currently clearance priced at CVS for 75% off and that's the only reason why I tried it. I'm so glad I did, this stuff is AMAZING.
Have you tried any of the products in this review? If so, please let me know your well-polished thoughts! Until next time, have an awesome week...

Del Sol Ruby Slipper (01/09/2011)
I love, love, love this nail polish. It's so much fun to wear that I felt like I was back in grade school showing all of my friends its wonderment. Del Sol Ruby Slipper changes color in the sun and is not to be confused with mood changing nail polishes. It encourages you to get out in the sun and get active, but in any light it is absolutely gorgeous.Color Description: In the bottle, Ruby Slipper is a silver glitter. On my nails indoors it's a platinum, almost pale gold beauty and outdoors, in full on sunlight, it's a beautiful ruby red. Each bottle has a hibiscus flower on the front and this is the color that it will change to in the sun. It really works!
Similar To: As mentioned above, one could say it would be similar to the mood changing polishes on the market, but I really think Del Sol has the market cornered with dozens of colors and finishes to choose from and the "get up, get out and do something" factor. This polish awesome! Del Sol makes hats and watches, and you name it, all for the active lifestyle... I need some of that in my life. :)This Look: Patience is preferred when applying this glitter. It's very fine and sheer with the first coat so I did four coats (no base), with one coat of Sally Hansen Mega Shine (optional). This was not a gritty, bumpy glitter, but went on smooth. I only put on a topcoat so that it wouldn't chip!
Price Point: Online these are going for $10 per bottle and just until recently were being sold at Walgreens for $8 ea. Recently, Walgreens has changed their pricing strategy and are selling them 3/$10 or $4 ea. I picked a few for me, some for my nieces and took three of my friends to Walgreens where the purchased "a few" for their girls and themselves. Thanks again and see you real soon! If you have any "well-polished" questions, feel free to ask and I will get back with you... :)
