Pink Wednesday: Nabi - Cinnamon

I have been obsessed with the color rose gold lately and you can see why, right - isn't it just delicious?

Color Description: Nabi Cinnamon is a copper metallic lacquer that goes very well with my rose gold jewelry below.  Definitely in the same family as rose gold.

Did You Know? Copper is the key metal in creating the rose gold color? A common alloy for rose gold is 75% gold and 25% copper by mass.

Similar To: Another rose gold/copper lacquer is Orly Rage.  However, Rage is a foil and not a metallic like Cinnamon but beautiful, nonetheless.

This Look: Two coats of Cinnamon and one coat of Sally Hansen NailShine Miracle.

Price Point/Availability: Nabi is found a local beauty supplies as well as online can cost as little as $1.00.

I so appreciate you stopping by! Do you own any rose gold jewelry? Whether it's fashion or fine, rose gold is a fun departure from the norm - yellow and white gold, wouldn't you say?

Sally Hansen Insta-Dri - Bronze Ablaze (09/24/2011)

If this isn't a Fall color, I don't know what is?  Not only does this lacquer remind me of Autumn, it also reminds me that it's time to switch out my closet from Spring/Summer to Fall/Winter.  Browns, rusts, and olives will be the theme of my wardrobe for the next six months.  But back to the topic at hand, Bronze Ablaze...

Color Description: Bronze Ablaze is a great name for this lacquer because it glows from within with golden undertones reminding me of a beautiful bronze statue. Shows as a frost in certain lighting.

Similar To: Nothing that I can think of or that I own.

This Look: Two coats of Bronze Ablaze and one coat of Maybelline Infinite Shine.

Price Point/Availability: This is a recent Fall 2011 edition to the Sally Hansen line.  I'm not seeing this available anywhere online, however, it should be available at most drugstores.

Talk to you lovelies later!

From the Vault: Color Club - Precious Gifts

I found this gorgeous lovely called Precious Gifts by chance a few months ago and fell in love!  You don't find many pics or much talk about this one other than it being on a few wish lists, but I am so pleased that I found this.

Color Description: Precious Gifts is a deep fuchsia jelly with small red glitter and fine blue glitter and is something to behold in real life.

Similar To: Absolutely nothing!  Definitely a layering project...

This Look: Two Coats of Color Clubs Precious Gifts, and one coat of Maybelline Infinite Shine.

Price Point/Availability:  This lacquer so old the name is written in gold so I'm certain it has been discontinued.

Thanks for stopping by!

Pink Wednesday: OPI - My Address Is "Hollywood"

Well, today's officially the 1st day of Fall and OPI's My Address Is "Hollywood" is my Pink Wednesday mani. This is the perfect color to transition into the Fall with, it being from the Touring America Fall collection, and all.

One thing is for sure, if you're "Touring America" you are definitely going to want to drive down "Hollywood Boulevard" with all the pink neon signs, then stop by Pink's for a hot dog, you may just see Angelyne drive by in her pink Corvette.  And a bit of trivia for you: Marilyn Monroe, the biggest Hollywood starlet of all time said that Diamond's are a girls best friend and she was wearing pink when she was singing the song - things that make you go hmmm?

Color Description:  My Address is "Hollywood" is as pink as pink can get and is a great look to brighten a gloomy Fall day.  It's hot pink with subtle gold shimmer throughout which I had difficulty capturing on film.

Similar To:  Many pinks in my collection come close but is closest to Essie Your Hut or Mine; see comparison pic here from The PolishAholic.  In the bottles they don't really look exact but once you get it on the nail you can really see the similarities.

This Look:  One coat of OPI Acrylic Nail Base Coat (my other base wasn't handy), two coats of My Address Is "Hollywood" and one coat of Sally Hansen Mega Shine.

Price Point/Availability:  This collection is still readily available online and in select salon locations.  I picked mine up this weekend at my local JC Penney Salon with my $10 off of a $10 purchase coupon and the OPI selection was BOGO 50% so I ended up getting two OPI's for $3 (after tax).  Crazy good!  I also picked up Road House Blues. :)

p.s. JC Penney is clearancing out polishes from the Swiss Collection (Just A Little Rosti At This) and Jade Is The New Black was on clearance, as well.  Happy hunting at JC Penney!

OPI - Uh Oh Roll Down The Window (09/16/2011)

This lacquer has one of the most "interesting" names of my entire OPI collection - Uh Oh Roll Down The Window.  There are a few schools of thought as to the meaning of this name but I have to agree with Nail Juice on this one.

Imagine you're "Touring America" trying to reach your destination at 85 mph in a 65 mph zone and the CHP (California Highway Patrol) pulls you over.  What's you first reaction?  Uh Oh Roll Down The Window - LOL!!!  This is a fitting name for a lacquer from OPI's Touring America collection.  By the way, depending on what part of the U.S. you're from, UORDtW is the same color as the uniform that highway patrol officers wear - again a very fitting color for this collection.

Color Description:  UORDtW is a mossy olive green creme with brown undertones and like a highway patrol officer, this lacquer means business!  This color is not for everyone so if you'd like to play it safe you might want to pass this one by.

Similar To:  In the bottle UORDtW is almost, if not, exactly the same color as Zoya Dree.  Did a quick swatch below.  So, in other words, if you have Dree you do not need UORDtW.

Dree on index finger (all others UORDtW)
This Look:  One coat of Barielle Camouflage, two coats of UORDtW and one coat of Sally Hansen Mega Shine.

Price Point/Availability:  Included in the Touring America collection for Fall 2011, Uh Oh Roll Down The Window, is available at select salons and other retailers and sells for $8.50.

Have a great weekend folks and see you soon!

China Glaze - For Audrey (09/10/2011)

I finally purchased China Glaze for Audrey while at a dusty with friends yesterday!  I must've picked up this bottle 20 times or more and put it back down.  It's gotten such over the top raves for the last 4 years I just had to try it out.

Here's a bit of the back story: "China Glaze released a Tiffany & Co.'inspired' blue creme nail polish in June 2007, and named it "For Audrey" (after Audrey Hepburn, who starred in Breakfast at Tiffany's)."

Color Description: Everyone knows what "Tiffany" blue looks like and this the quintessential essence of the robin's egg blue creme that has made Tiffany & Co.'s packaging so iconic!  (Side Note: This lacquer matches with the box and is a bit bluer than the bag - check out Evonnz review here).

Similar To: For Audrey has been compared to Orly's Gumdrop, Essie's Turquoise in Caicos and even Chanel Nouveau Vague but I've noticed all are close but have slight nuances that make them all a bit unique.

This Look: Nails were filed down to keep them short for darker Fall colors (yay for the Fall!) and based with Starting Over After Artificials, two coats of For Audrey and one coat of Shine & Hold topcoat.

Price Point/Availability: Though originally this lacquer was thought to be limited edition because it was from the Tiffany inspired collection called Something Blue", it is now core to the China Glaze collection and can be found at most retailers that carry China Glaze. Sally's carries it for $6.00.

Well, it's the end of summer and I'm finally getting around to wearing this beautiful blue.  I'm sure you own this already but if you don't it's worth "picking up" - lol!

Oh, and look how different this lacquer looks in various light settings!  I really like this color and I think you will too... :)

Pink Wednesday: OPI - I'd Like To Thank...

OPI I'd Like To Thank... is from the 2007 Holiday in Hollywood collection and "pink" definitely comes to mind when you put this on.  In the bottle it's a copper duo-chrome, though..

Color Description: I'd Like To Thank... is said to be a mauve-pink by OPI. I definitely agree with the pink but it reminds me of a brand new copper penny, leaning towards the dark rose gold with fine green and gold shimmer giving it a duochrome effect.

This Look: One coat of Starting Over After Artificials and two coats of I'd Like To Thanks... with no topcoat.  In my previous post you will find that I topped this with Pros & Bronze which made for a lovely pairing.

Do you have this one? What did you think of it?

OPI - Pros & Bronze (09/03/2011)

Here's a quick look at this weekend's mani of choice: OPI Pros & Bronze from the Serena Williams Glam Slam! U.S Collection.

On August 25, 2011 Serena Williams officially launched the final series of nail lacquers in her Glam Slam! by OPI collection which features two high-shine shades: a shimmering red named Love is a Racket and a glittering bronze titled Pros & Bronze.  I decided to purchase Pros & Bronze alone.

Color Description: Bronze isn't really accurate and didn't know exactly how to describe this color until I came across Obsessive Cosmetic Hoarders Unite's blog who describes it as a "rose gold" which is so perfect for this lacquer.

This Look: Pros & Bronze is very sheer and takes at least three coats for any kind of coverage so definitely find a similar color to layer it over.  In this case, I layered it over OPI I'd Like To Thank from the 2007 Holiday in Hollywood collection.  Turned out to be a nice pairing.
