Revlon - Cherries In The Snow

Revlon Cherries In The Snow has been a cult classic since the 50's and is still going strong!  I had a special assembly to attend on Sunday and this was my lacquer of choice.  Vivid and elegant and just perfect for the occasion.

Color Description: Photographing here as a classic red creme, Cherries In The Snow is anything but.  Yes, in certain lighting it definitely is what you see on the screen but in the bottle and at first glance, it's a blue-based dark red bordering on fuchsia.

Similar To: This the same color as my previous post, OPI Do You Think I'm Tex-y!  The major difference is the finish with OPI being a jelly/sorbet (needing about 3 coats) and Revlon ending up a nice one-coat creme.

This Look: One coat of Starting Over After Artificials, two coats (because I wanted two not because I needed two) of Cherries In The Snow and one coat of Shine & Hold topcoat.

Click to expand and read for a good giggle!
Price Point/Availability: As mentioned earlier, this lacquer's been around since the 50's and it doesn't look like it's going anywhere.  You can find this wherever Revlon is sold retailing at $4 -$5/ea.

If you choose to pick up this beauty you will not be disappointed and thanks for stopping by!

Revlon - Royal (02/18/2012)

Royal needed its own post even though it was used as a layering lacquer!
Not much detail will be given on this one, other than, this can be picked up at your local drugstore.  Happy Hunting...

Revlon - Fearless (12/24/2011)

I spotted this new Revlon at CVS this weekend and fell in absolute love all over again.  I keep falling for these colors and just convince myself when I'm in the check-out line that it's slightly different from the the four or five other brands that I have at home.

You do have to be very careful with Revlon color choices, though, because they have been known to rename and recently repackage the same color and sell it as new.  How Tricky!

Color Description: Fearless is a gorgeous orange-red creme that can almost be jelly-like, but not quite.  It is bright, thus the name but I find it to be very wearable and this shade always garners lots of compliments.

Similar To:  Let me count the ways (cough, cough)! Let's just say that a few in my collection are similar... Click here for my orange-red collection.

This Look: One coat of Nutra Nail Touch of Color Nail Strenghtener, one coat of Instant Artificials, two coats of Revlon Fearless and one coat of Shine & Hold. Great application that gives a flawless finish.

Price Point/Availability: This lacquer is $4.99 and was found at CVS in a new freestanding display toward the front of the store.  Be careful, there's a dupe of Perplex in this collection called Naughty (do not be fooled, like me - lol).

Thanks for checking me out today!  I can't wait to try the new flakies at Sally's later on.  Picked up Asylum and Twisted - crazy names but beautiful effects. :)

NAIL REWIND: Revlon - Gray Suede

Not sure how this NOTD missed out on being showcased but it definitely needs to get a look-see for all of you drug store divas out there!  On to the review...

Color Description: A beautiful grayed-out beige with a hint of rose and secret shimmer. A great professional looking lacquer that is accessible to most.

This Look: It's been a while but I'm almost certain I used my dynamic duo for this look of Starting Over After Artificials as a base and Sally Hansen Mega Shine as a topcoat with two coats of Gray Suede sandwiched in between.  The ring finger is accented with Best Sense #101 glitter.

Similar To: Puts me in the mind of one of my previous NOTD's, OPI Mod Hatter.

Price Point/Availability: Revlon's Gray Suede can be found at most drugstores and Target sells it for $3.74. The glitter is from a brand that is little known and the store I purchased this from has now disappeared.  Go figure?  Well, at least the Revlon is readily available. :)

So yeah, this was my mani about 4 months ago on 3/27/2011 and this is definitely one to have in your stash!

Maybelline Colorama Pink Pinata over Revlon Pink Lingerie (12/28/2010)

Pink was so nice I had to wear it twice!  Today's review will be on Pink Pinata.

Color Description: Pink Pinata has iridescent flakies in a translucent pinky/peach base.

Price Point: This is a discontinued collection, however, it pops up in dollar stores and Big Lots across the country.  I've yet to see any at my local stores, so when I got this in a swap (as an EXTRA, nonetheless) I was like, "SCORE!"

Similar To: Pink Pinata is similar Hidden Treasure or Nubar 2010.  I believe, you could tell the difference over a white polish; the pink base would be apparent.  However, if you were to layer this over a black or darker nail color, they would be the same.  (See it over black in Steph's Closet swatch here).

This Look:  As mentioned in my previous post Revlon's Pink Lingerie and Wet 'n Wild's Flirty Rose Creme are almost identical.  So I decided to keep the pink theme going by wearing Pink Lingerie with a twist, layering the Maybelline Colorama - Pink Pinata (my top coat is Sally Hansen Mega Shine).

Well, that's all my well-polished folks.  Looks like I'll be wearing pink for the next few days! :)

DESIGNER SERIES: OPI DS Glamour (10/19/2010)

OPI's Designer Series has been described as jewels for your nails and DS Glamour definitely does not disappoint!

This royal holographic, prismatic beauty is a stunner and it's taken far to long to wear it...  The application goes on pretty sheer so I decided to layer it over an older Revlon called Typhoon.

Glamour was released in February 2007 and Typhoon dates back to 2003 or before.  Both were picked up this year at mom & pop type beauty supplies.  At any rate, they are a great compliment to each other.

I like the idea of "stretching" my nicer colors by layering them on top of a similar color so that I won't use as much.  And this combo looks like it was made for each other :).

This Look: 1 coat of Typhoon, 2 coats of Glamour and 1 coat of Mega Shine.

Do you have Typhoon or Glamour?  What are you thoughts?

Stay well-polished and for some of you stay dry (Los Angeles residents).  It's a gloomy rainy Tuesday but my mani will keep my mood up, I'm sure :).
